What is Art Journaling? Think of it like keeping a diary but using paint, colour, and images instead of just words. The point is the process, so no worries about 'talent' or perfecting how to paint a tree. This class will help you tap into your creative juices, the ones that literally shift how your brain works and put you in 'the zone'. We'll get a little messy, and I'll show you techniques for layering texture, colour, and a variety of different mediums and media. If you love 'art' and crave creating but have been hesitant to try because you think you can't do it - this class is for you!

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS:

Necessary Mediums: - Liquid Spray Inks/Spray Paint/Watercolour Paints/Calligraphy Inks/Liquid Acrylic paints Anything that can be watered down with a spritz of water. - Gesso/Primer/Base Coat - Texture mediums of any sort like - molding paste, heavy gesso, heavy gel mediums, heavy body paints, crackle paste, or any acrylic paint that says 'paste' on it or has a texture like frosting/icing. - Acrylic paints of any kind - Stamp pads - preferably solvent inks and pigment inks.

Optional Mediums: - Patterned sticky tape (Washi Tapes) - Ephemera - Collage fodder - Gel mediums - Glitter - Stickers

Necessary Tools: - Stencils (any kind) - Something to scrape paint on with (palette knife/silicone painting tool/old credit card) - Craft heat gun (hardware store versions will set your work on fire. A hairdryer will suffice) - Spray bottle of water - Stamps of any kind (ink stamps, not postage stamps!)

Optional Tools: - Mark-making tools eg. skewers, stamps, weird things from around your house with interesting/unusual textures to them - Scissors - Craft knife/Exacto knife)
